What is the ENERGY STAR Tax Credit?
The federal government has created the ENERGY STAR Tax Credit in order to benefit those who purchase and install specific types of energy efficient product in their homes. The credit applies to purchases and improvements made between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 and may be as high as $1500.

 How do I know which ENERGY STAR products are eligible?
This credit applies to certain ENERGY STAR products, including doors, windows, skylights, insulation, furnaces, boilers and water heaters.
 
 What is a tax credit?
Unlike a deduction, which reduces that amount of taxable income, a tax credit directly reduces the tax itself. A tax credit can amount to considerable savings on your tax return.
 
 What do I do to qualify for the ENERGY STAR Tax Credit?
For tax filing purposes, simply save your receipts when you purchase a qualifying item.
